Frequently asked questions.

Where is our money going?

Because I know how important your wedding day is, I only take on a select number of weddings each year to ensure that I give each one my full and undivided care and attention.

I realise that films don’t come cheap, and it can often be difficult to figure out if hiring a filmmaker is worth it. I’d like you to think of your wedding film as an investment. Have you ever felt so happy that you never wanted the moment to end? Well that’s what I aim to do with your wedding film – I capture the day using state of the art equipment so that you can relive those happy moments again and again for the rest of your life. But that state of the art equipment doesn’t come cheap, and my prices include the cost of maintaining and upgrading my equipment to make sure I’m always as prepared as possible to capture your special memories.

Once the day is done, I pour my heart and soul into editing your film, which can often require several weeks of work to perfect a stunning film that’s sure to evoke some emotion (re: tears) in both you and your friends and family.

Can you use an Ed Sheeran Song in our Film?

Unfortunately not, no. On the one hand, it’s illegal, and there’s always a risk that the label who produce the song will take action through civil or criminal courts for making unauthorised copies of their songs and for loss of revenue. For that reason, I do not use commercial music in my films.

Secondly, choosing the perfect music for your wedding film is an important part of the creative process for me. The right song can make or break a wedding film, and so it can sometimes take me days to find a soundtrack that will draw you into the film and tie in with the visuals, the narrative, and the audio to ensure your film has maximum emotional impact. For this I use a database of independent music producers who I pay to licence their music (don’t worry though, the cost of licensing their music is included in my packages).

Can you Film both of us getting ready?

Each package comes with one videographer as standard. Due to the fact that a person can’t be in two places at once, if you and your partner are both getting ready at different locations, I can usually only guarantee that I’ll film one of you getting ready. However, for a small fee I can also organise a second videographer to make sure we can cover both locations for you. If you do go for this option this will only add to your film in a good way. It will mean twice as much video for me to edit in to your final film, capturing moments that happened whilst I was in a different part of the venue.

When will our Film be ready?

Each wedding requires a lot of attention to detail, and that process can take time, especially during the busy spring/summer months. That being said, I try to ensure that your video will be ready within 16 weeks.

The 30 second trailer will typically be released within 2 weeks.

Do you use Drones?

The short answer is Yes. The long answer is… most of the time. Drone footage adds such a unique perspective to the day, it is often a lovely shot to use as a scene setter and so we always like to film from the skies if we can. The problems that we face come in the form of 3 variables. Sometimes locations are within no fly zones, which prohibits us from take-off. This can often be the case when the venue is close to an airport. Sometimes the weather conditions simply aren’t good enough to fly in, drones hate wet and windy weather, it cause damage to the onboard circuitry and makes them unreliable to fly, so they cannot be flown in these conditions. Finally sometimes the venue just doesn’t permit drones to take off or land on their property, this last one is always a shame because we’d hope the venues would want your video to be the best they can be, but unfortunately we have to abide by their decision as they own the land.

We are fully CAA GVC licensed and have the relevant insurance which can be provided upon request.

Do you have public liability?

Yes we have public liability which can be shared with yourself or your venue, available upon request.

What Equipment do you use?

This answer does change from time to time as new equipment becomes available but currently I am filming on the Sony A7Riii as my Main ‘A’ Camera and the Sony A6600’s as my ‘B’ and ‘C’ cameras. These cameras are all 4K.

My audio recorders are Rode Wireless Pro’s and I also utilise Sony TX660’s.
